Varna offers rich opportunities for cultural tourism in every season, combining millennia of history, a maritime atmosphere, and a contemporary urban rhythm. Archaeological sites of global significance, along with well-preserved cultural heritage, narrate the story of the city-from antiquity to the present day.
The Archaeological Museum of Varna is one of the oldest museums in Bulgaria, with long-standing traditions in science and museology. It was established as an archaeological collection in 1887, and its first exhibition was presented to the public in 1906. The museum houses Varna’s pride-the oldest processed gold in the world, dated to nearly 7,000 years ago.
