The Naval Museum celebrates the Day of the Navy with free admission and film screenings

August 9, 2026, 10:00 AM
Naval Museum - Varna

On the occasion of the Day of the Navy, on August 9 (Sunday), the Naval Museum will be open to visitors with free admission.
The museum will be open from 10:00 to 18:00, with the last entry at 17:30.
During the holiday, visitors will be able to view the permanent exhibition of the Naval Museum, which traces the history of the Bulgarian Navy from its establishment to the present day, as well as the temporary exhibition "Hot 1916. The War for Dobrudzha", presenting the battles of 110 years ago for the reconquest of the Bulgarian territories in Northern and Southern Dobrudzha and the role of the Navy in supporting land operations. Especially for the holiday, the guests of the Museum will be able to join in film meetings with the heroes of the Fleet. The screenings will start at 10:30 and 14:30 in the "Maritime Agreement" hall of the Naval Museum. In each of the two screening blocks, the three documentary films dedicated to the Bulgarian Navy will be presented: "The Danube Flotilla, 1885", "Drazki" and "The Fleet 1915 - 1918" (each is about 40 minutes long, and there is a 10-minute break between screenings). The films were made by the team of the Military Television Channel with the assistance of the National Museum of Military History and its branch, the Naval Museum, and authentic documents and photographs were used for their filming, as well as reconstructions, through which the participation of the Fleet in the wars for national unification was recreated. With this program, the Naval Museum offers its visitors the opportunity to experience the rich maritime heritage and history of the Bulgarian Navy.
