In present-day Varna, the archaeological remains of the ancient city of Odessos’ public baths can be found. The thermae were not only places for bathing but also centers of public and social life.
The Roman baths are located in the southeastern part of the modern city, near the port, and are among the best-preserved architectural monuments from antiquity. They are the largest Roman baths in the Balkans and the fourth largest in Europe.
