The monument to the fallen British soldiers in 1854 is located on the corners of “Knyaz Boris I” Blvd. and “Naiden Gerov” Str., in the small city garden near Varna National School of Arts.
It is a military tombstone located on the exact place where 700 English soldiers died in 1854 during The Crimean war. When Turkey declared war on Russia, England and France turned Varna into a transport point while joining Turkey against Russia. English soldiers who fell dead actually died from cholera a short time after the start of the war.
The monument was inaugurated in 1998. It is made of grey marble with total height 2.15m. On the face side there is an inscription engraved “To those British soldiers who died from cholera in Varna in 1854, on their way to Crimea“.
