This is one of the two Catholic churches in Varna that are open for worship. The church is the first Catholic one built in Varna after the Liberation and one of the few examples of Gothic architecture in the city.
The Church of the Immaculate Conception is located at 41 Preslav Street. It is situated within one of the largest ensembles of historic European architecture dating from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
The church was built in 1890 according to a design by the Italian architect Valentino Dell’Antonio. Its construction began simultaneously with that of the Catholic Cathedral of St. Paul in Ruse. The building follows the traditional Gothic style, yet retaining a much greater simplicity in comparison with most of the other Gothic Catholic churches in Bulgaria.
Following a restoration between 2006 and 2013, the church is currently open for worship and welcomes believers and visitors alike.
