The life of Charlie Chaplin presented through his film music.
"Modern Times", "The Great Dictator", "The Kid", "Gold Rush", "Ramp Lights", "The Circus"... Charlie Chaplin's legendary films became an epoch in cinema. But they wouldn't have made such an impact without the music that accompanies them, and it was composed by Chaplin himself! He even won an Oscar for his original score for the movie "Ramp Lights."
To pay tribute to the great cinematographer, Jean-Pascal Benthus and Sylvain Morizet created a concert of Chaplin's most famous film compositions in the form of suites for two pianos. In the world of cinema, the two musicians are known as one of the best orchestra players and authors of arrangements. When they play, the audience feels like they are listening to a whole orchestra.
"Chaplin Pianissimo" is with the special participation of Eugene Chaplin, son of Charlie Chaplin and grandson of American playwright Eugene O'Neill. From the stage, he introduces the audience to the history of musical compositions, recounts personal memories and anecdotes related to his father's cinematic legacy, and highlights the importance of music in his films. In order to immerse ourselves in their atmosphere, some iconic scenes from the films and life of one of the most remarkable personalities in the cinema of the 20th century are projected under the sounds of the two grand pianos.
At the end of the performance, the audience is invited to a attend a talk by the three performers.
