Varna will mark May 9 - Europe Day - with a military ceremony, a procession, and the raising of the European Union flag.
Program:
11:00 a.m. - Wreath- and flower-laying ceremony with a military ritual and memorial prayer at the Portal-Monument to 8th Coastal Infantry Regiment of Varna
11:35 a.m. and 11:55 a.m. - Procession from the Portal-Monument to 8th Coastal Infantry Regiment of Varna to the Varna Municipality building
12:00 p.m. - Ceremony for raising the European Union flag in front of the main entrance of the Varna Municipality building
12:00 p.m. - Immediately after the flag-raising ceremony, the Representative Brass Band of the Navy will perform the European Union anthem - "Ode to Joy". The initiative is dedicated to the upcoming 20th anniversary of Bulgaria’s accession to the EU.
The organizer of the Europe Day events is Varna Municipality, with co-organizers the Navy of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Varna and Veliki Preslav Holy Metropolis.
