Cor Caroli International Regatta is traditionally held in Varna within the days just before 15th of August - the city's official holiday. 40 keel yachts and crews will be competing in the regatta.
Cor Caroli Regatta was founded in 1992 in memory of Captain Georgi Georgiev, the first Bulgarian to participate in the OSTAR Transatlantic Regatta, in 1976. After that race, he was the first Bulgarian to sail around the world, leaving from Havana on 20 December 1976, and finishing there too.
