Festive program of the Municipality of Varna for September 6th – 139 years since the Unification of Bulgaria:
10:00 am: The commemoration of September 6th, 1885 begins with the laying of wreaths and flowers with a military ritual in front of the memorial plaque of Prince Alexander I of Battenberg on Independence Square (Nezavisimost Square).
10:15 am: procession from the memorial plaque, which will move along "Maria Luiza" Blvd., to the monument to those who died in the Serbo-Bulgarian War in the garden next to the Archaeological Museum. A memorial service and military wreath-laying ceremony will be held there at 10:30 am.
11:00 am: on the "Rakovina" stage in the Sea Garden, the XVIII Regional Folk Art Festival "Songs on the Shore" will be held as part of the holiday program with the participation of amateur groups and performers from the municipalities of the Varna region. The organizer is the public educational center "Macedonia - 2005".
At 6:00 pm, a historical reenactment of the events of 1885 will begin at Nezavisimost Square in the city center. And this year, actors will recreate the moment when Prince Battenberg announced from Varna for the first time the Unification of the Principality of Bulgaria and Eastern Rumelia. The organizers are the public educational centre "Stara Varna - 2010", the "Stara Varna" Foundation, and the event is financially supported by the "Culture" Fund of the Municipality of Varna. The co-organizers are also the Naval Forces of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Holy Metropolis of Varna and Veliko Preslav.
