On May 22, 1968, Bulgaria’s first astronomical complex was opened. Named after the Polish scholar Nicolaus Copernicus, it includes an observatory, a planetarium, and a Foucault pendulum tower.
The monument to Copernicus by Prof. Lyubomir Dalchev and P. Atanassov stands in front of the planetarium entrance.
