Autumn in Varna is a season for stories - in books, on stage and on the big screen. As the cooler days arrive, the city comes alive with literary meetings, readings, festivals and cultural events that bring together writers, readers and art lovers.
The Night of Literature is one of the events that transforms literature into an experience in the urban environment. In 2026, it will take place on 1 October, when various venues across Varna will be transformed into unique literary stages. Visitors can immerse themselves in the world of contemporary European literature, listen to excerpts from literary works, and discover new authors and stories.
This is a wonderful opportunity to explore the city in a different way - walking from one literary venue to another, stopping for a moment to listen to an excerpt from a book that can transport you to another city, another era or a completely different world. Literature steps beyond the pages and becomes part of everyday life in Varna.
In October, the literary atmosphere continues with CineLibri - the international film and literature festival that brings great literature to the big screen. In Varna, the 2026 edition of the festival will take place from 15 October to 8 November, presenting a selection of films inspired by literary works, as well as events exploring the connection between a book and its screen adaptation.
For book lovers, autumn is the perfect time to discover the city’s literary spaces - the Pencho Slaveykov Public Library, bookshops, public cultural centres and the many cultural venues that host author meetings, book presentations and discussions throughout the season.
From book to film, from reading to a city walk - discover literary Varna this autumn.
