The exhibition occupies three galleries and two foyers.
The first gallery's exhibition spans from the 4th millennium BC to the fall of the Second Bulgarian Kingdom. Through a collection of artifacts, tools, photographs, and diagrams, it illustrates the evolution of medical practices during this era.
The second gallery's exhibition showcases the development of medicine from 1396 through the Bulgarian National Revival. This era is characterized by "church-monastery medicine". On display are icons of medieval healers alongside with medical instruments and tools from the period.
The third hall is dedicated to the history of medical services, beginning with the Russo-Turkish war (1877-1878) and spanning the post-Liberation period until the 1940s.
