"Zlatni Pyasatsi" Nature Park is the smallest Nature Park (13.2 sq.km) in Bulgaria. The Park was declared protected area for conservation and protection of valuable habitats, flora, fauna and specific landscapes in 1943. The Park is part of the European network Natura 2000 as a Special Area of Conservation named Zlatni Pyasatsi. Golden Sands resort bears the name of the naturepark as it was built alongside it.
This is the first eco park in the country which combines artificial and natural ecological systems. The park is situated on an area of 360 decares. The plant collections include more than 300 species of exotic trees and bushes, and the herbaceous plants are more than 100 species. The botanical garden is also famous for its rich collection of irises, which are more than 250 variations. The ecological park offers exotic meetings with plants from the whole world: sea oaks, tulip-tree, ginkgo biloba, sterculia, parrotia persica, broussonetia papyrifera, evergreen oak, mamont tree and many others.
The newest park in Varna is located in Vazrazhdane District and covers an area of 30 acres. It was created under the initiative of the Municipality of Varna for regional development.
The ecopark near the village of Zvezditsa is located in the area "Kuru Cheshma"/Kuru fountain/, near the entrance of the village. It is situated at the foot of a beautiful pine forest. There are picnic, recreation and sports areas, children's facilities, gazebos and bird houses, as well as a herb garden. The drinking fountain, restored to its authentic appearance, adds an additional charm to the park.
