The Bulgarian folk and Christian holiday, Todorovden, is among the first spring holidays in the national folk calendar and is marked by solemn honoring of the horse. The holiday carries the symbolism of hope for fertility, health and prosperity.
Traditionally, Todorovden in Varna is celebrated with an attractive equestrian show featuring show jumping and spectacular horse races, held at Ecopark Varna and the Vinitsa Equestrian Centre.
The festive programme will present the Bulgarian traditions related to Todorovden, also known among Bulgarians as Horse Easter. Highlights of the event are the competitions for the most beautifully decorated horse-drawn carriages in "tek" (single-horse) and "chiift" (two-horse) categories, the traditional "kushiya" (horse race), and show jumping demonstrations with the participation of equestrian clubs.
The festive atmosphere will be enhanced by performances from the women’s vocal group "Chemerika", the Bulgarian Dance Club "Nastroenie", and singer Svilen Todorinski.
Visitors will be able to enjoy equestrian attractions and short horse rides, open-air food areas, a prize raffle, and a festive atmosphere in the nature of Ecopark Varna.
