The Monument of Gratitude is located in the park area next to the Archaeological Museum in Varna. It symbolizes the gratitude of the Varna Jewish community to the people of Bulgaria for saving Bulgarian Jews during World War II, when around 1,300 lives were spared.
The monument was created by Luidmil Blazhev and takes the form of a shofar, an ancient Jewish liturgical instrument, representing a call or awakening.
