The Border Guard Monument is situated in the Sea Garden, near the Museum of Natural History. During World War I, this site served as a frontier post. The monument was built in 1917, originally featuring a marble sculpture of an eagle. In 1922, the sculpture was replaced with a new one depicting a border guard with a dog.
The monument underwent complete renovation in 1998.
