On 14th of February 2021, when the church commemorates the Assumption of St. Constantine Cyril the Philosopher, the new "St. Procopius of Varna” church was consecrated.
The construction of the temple started at the beginning of 2009 by Metropolitan Cyril of Varna and Veliki Preslav. The construction lasted for 12 years. Fundings for the church were provided by donations, by the Bulgarian government and by Varna Municipality as well.
Three fragments of the relics of Saint Tryphon the Martyr have been incrustated in the holy table, parts of relics given to Metropolitan Ioan by Patriarch Maksim and a skull belonging to an unknown saint as well.
The temple is the second largest in Varna after The Cathedral of the "Assumption of the Mother of God". New addition to the traditional church architecture is a multipurpose building to be used for social and cultural activities, icon painting classes, library, event hall, social kitchen and medical offices.
